1. Who we are

Brain Boost Buddy is made by BASHBOP LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14422092), registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ. Contact: info@bashbop.com.

2. What Brain Boost Buddy is — and honestly isn't

Brain Boost Buddy is a desktop app for macOS and Windows that presents a learning challenge when your child's laptop starts, and unlocks the laptop when the challenge is passed or when a parent enters their PIN.

The honest bit: Brain Boost Buddy is a routine-building tool, not a security product. A determined or technically skilled child may find ways around it (for example by force-quitting or restarting the machine). It is designed to make learning the easiest path, not to be impossible to bypass. You should not rely on it for safeguarding, content filtering, or any safety-critical purpose — it does none of those things.

3. Buying it

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy (lemonsqueezy.com), our merchant of record. Your payment, receipt and any applicable VAT are handled by them, and their buyer terms also apply to the transaction.
After payment you receive a download link and a licence key by email. Keep the email — you can also retrieve it any time via Lemon Squeezy's "My Orders".
Prices are shown at checkout. The purchase is a one-time payment: there is no subscription and no recurring charge.

4. Your licence

One purchase = one licence for your household: you may activate the app on up to 5 devices you own (covering reinstalls and family machines).
The licence is personal and non-transferable. Don't share, resell, or publish your key.
You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app except where the law expressly permits it.
We keep ownership of the software and all intellectual property in it; you get a licence to use it.

5. Refunds

14-day money-back promise: if Brain Boost Buddy isn't right for your family, tell us (or request a refund through Lemon Squeezy) within 14 days of purchase and we'll refund you in full — no quibbles.

This sits alongside, and does not reduce, your statutory rights as a UK or EU consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where digital content is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose.

6. Your responsibilities as a parent

You (an adult) set the app up, choose the parent PIN, and keep it private. Anyone with the PIN can unlock or switch off the gate.
The app is set up and controlled by a parent or guardian; children use it under your supervision and responsibility.
Remember the built-in exits: the parent PIN always unlocks, and the app can be switched off any time from the parent panel.

7. Updates and changes

Updates are included free. We may improve, change, or remove features over time; we will not remove the core function you paid for (the learning gate) without offering you a remedy. The app works offline and never requires an account.

8. What we're responsible for

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, our total liability arising from or in connection with the app is limited to the amount you paid for it.
We are not liable for losses caused by a child bypassing the app (see section 2), for loss of data you have not backed up, or for issues caused by modifications to the app or your operating system that we don't control.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the app and delete it at any time (Parent unlock → Switch off, then drag to the bin). We may terminate the licence if you materially breach these terms (for example, distributing licence keys); your statutory rights are unaffected.

10. General

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — except that if you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep any mandatory consumer protections and court rights of your home country.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page applies, and material changes won't apply retroactively to your purchase.
