Privacy Policy

The short version: Brain Boost Buddy has no accounts and no tracking. Your child's name, PIN, settings and progress are stored only on your own device and are never sent to us. The things processed online are: starting or checking your free trial (your email and a device label), your subscription purchase (by Lemon Squeezy for Mac and Windows, or by Apple if you subscribe on iPhone or iPad), and periodic licence checks that confirm your trial or subscription is active (your email and, if subscribed on Mac or Windows, licence key are sent to our licensing services). This website (brainboostbuddy.com) uses Google Tag Manager to collect anonymous page-view analytics.

1. Who we are

BASHBOP LTD (company number 14422092), 71–75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, is the data controller for the limited personal data described below. Contact: info@bashbop.com.

2. What the app stores (locally only)

Your child's first name (as you typed it at setup), your parent PIN, quiz settings, progress, the email you activated or trialled with, and (once subscribed on Mac or Windows) your licence key.
On the Mac and Windows app this also includes daily pass and lock status for the laptop gate.
All of this lives in the app's local storage on that device (your laptop, iPhone or iPad). It is not transmitted to us or anyone else, and there is no account or cloud sync.
The iPhone and iPad app is homework-style practice, available on the App Store. It does not lock or unlock the device.
Deleting the app removes it from that device. On Mac or Windows you can also use Parent options → Switch off, then remove the app. Local data can be fully cleared by deleting the app's data.

3. What is processed online

Your purchase (Mac and Windows): handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. They collect your email, payment details and billing country to take payment, deliver your licence key and handle VAT. See the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy. We can see order details (your email and key) in our store dashboard; we never see card numbers.
Your purchase (iPhone and iPad): for now, if you subscribe on iPhone or iPad, Apple processes the payment. See Apple's privacy policy. We do not see your Apple ID payment details.
Trial & licence activation: on first launch (or when you re-enter your email), the app sends your email and a short device label (for example "Brain Boost Buddy Mac" or "Brain Boost Buddy ios") to our licence service (a Cloudflare Worker) to start or verify your free trial, or to fetch your licence key if you've subscribed on Mac or Windows. If you subscribe on Mac or Windows, the app also sends that key to Lemon Squeezy's licensing service to confirm it's genuine. The app re-checks from time to time; if you're offline it keeps working for a short grace period (paid subscribers) or until your stored trial end date (trial users).
This website: hosted on GitHub Pages behind Cloudflare. We run no analytics and set no marketing cookies; those providers may keep standard technical server logs (IP address, request time) to operate and secure the service.
Email: if you email us, we'll have your address and message, used only to help you.

4. Children's data

The app is set up by an adult. The only child-related information is the first name a parent types at setup, and it never leaves your device. We do not collect, see, or process any data about your child.

5. Legal bases

Where UK GDPR applies: performance of a contract (delivering your purchase and licence), and legitimate interests (operating and securing the website, responding to your emails, preventing licence fraud). We don't use your data for marketing and we never sell it.

6. How long we keep things

Order records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting law (normally six years). Support emails are kept only as long as useful for helping you. Everything else lives on your device, under your control.

7. Your rights

You have the usual UK GDPR rights: access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Email info@bashbop.com and we'll sort it. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk), but we'd appreciate the chance to fix it first.

8. Changes

If we ever change what the app or site collects, we'll update this page and flag material changes on the site. The promise we won't quietly break: your child's learning data stays on your device.
